At Linden, we’re passionate about supporting individuals to grow into confident, capable leaders – and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing that growth recognised in the workplace.
One of our recent learners, Daniel, was awarded Employee of the Month, and he took the time to reflect on how completing the Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship has supported his development and career aspirations.
“Leadership is a skill you learn”
Before starting the programme, Daniel felt confident in his role and believed leadership would naturally come with experience.
“Before I started the course, I thought leadership would just come naturally. I’d been in my role for many years and felt confident in what I was doing.”
However, the apprenticeship quickly challenged that assumption.
“This apprenticeship really opened my eyes. Leadership is a skill you learn, not something you just step into without training.”
Through structured learning and practical application, Daniel gained a deeper understanding of what effective leadership looks like – not just in theory, but in day‑to‑day practice.
Learning that fits around the day job Like many learners, Daniel initially had concerns about balancing apprenticeship learning alongside a busy role at work. This is something we hear often, and it’s an important consideration for both learners and employers. “I was a bit worried at the start that it might be too much work on top of the day job.” With a steady pace, realistic expectations, and strong one‑to‑one support from his Linden trainer, the programme proved to be both manageable and impactful. “The pace has been really steady and we get plenty of time to complete the assignments without feeling overwhelmed.” Crucially, Daniel was able to apply what he learned directly in the workplace, helping to build confidence and reinforce new skills in real time. Support that makes a difference A key element of Daniel’s experience was the ongoing support he received throughout his apprenticeship journey. “The support has been brilliant and it’s really helped me think about my next steps and future progression.” At Linden, we pride ourselves on delivering apprenticeships that are never ‘off‑the‑shelf’. Our trainers work closely with learners and employers to ensure programmes are contextualised, relevant, and genuinely supportive – helping learners succeed both on programme and beyond.
Why the Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship matters? The Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship is designed for individuals stepping into, or already working in, first‑line management roles. It helps develop the confidence, skills, and behaviours needed to lead people effectively, manage performance, and contribute positively to organisational goals. Daniel’s journey is a great example of how apprenticeships can: Build confidence in leadership capability Support recognition and progression in the workplace Provide structured development without overwhelming learners Deliver real, practical impact for employers
A big congratulations! We’d like to congratulate Daniel on his Employee of the Month award and thank him for sharing his experience. Stories like this capture exactly why apprenticeships play such an important role in developing future leaders.
