⏳ Time to Act: Big Changes Coming to the Senior Leader Apprenticeship in 2026
If you’ve been considering the Level 7 Senior Leader apprenticeship—or you’re an employer thinking about developing your future leaders—now’s the time to take action.
From 1 January 2026, the government is making big changes to how this apprenticeship is funded. And for most adult learners, that means public funding will no longer be available.
🚨 What’s Changing?
Right now, the Senior Leader apprenticeship is a popular route for professionals to gain advanced leadership skills and a high-level qualification without the hefty price tag.
But from January 2026, funding will stop for most learners aged 22 and over. Only a small number of people will still be eligible.
🗓️ What You Can Do in 2025
The good news? There’s still time.
If you or your team start the apprenticeship before the end of December 2025, you can still access full funding.
At Linden, we’re encouraging employers to:
• Identify potential learners now—especially those ready to step into senior roles.
• Plan ahead for September or autumn starts.
• Get in touch with us early so we can support you through the process.
🔮 What Happens After the Change?
The Senior Leader apprenticeship won’t disappear—but without public funding, most employers will need to pay the full cost themselves. That could make it harder for some to invest in this kind of training.
That’s why 2025 is such a key year. It’s your last chance to access funding for this programme as it currently stands.
